How to Pick an E-Liquid Juice

An e-cigarette is only as good as the liquid inside of it. The e-liquid you use can make the difference between a satisfying vaping experience and a disappointing one. Choosing a flavor of liquid is the fun part, but it’s also important to consider some other factors to get the best e-liquid for your personal vaping experience.

First you will need to consider the nicotine content of the e-cigarette liquid. If your goal is to eliminate nicotine, you can try zero nicotine liquid right away, or go for a higher nicotine content liquid and gradually reduce it by purchasing increasing lower nicotine content e-cigarettes.

Propylene Glycol (PG) & Vegetable Glycerin (VG)

Look for e-liquid or e-juice suppliers who list the ingredients of their liquid. You should buy liquid that has quality ingredients, and generally, the fewer ingredients, the better. All vaporizer e-juice contains either propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), or a combination of both. Propylene glycol has been deemed safe by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) for decades, and it is found in foods and many other products. PG tends to give the liquid stronger flavor, while VG tends to produce more vapor. Which e-liquid juice you choose depends on which aspect of vaping you find more important. Combination liquids that mix PG and VG are considered ideal by many people. Some e-cigarette users also desire “throat hit,” which is the sensation in the throat when vaping. PG gives more throat hit, and higher nicotine content also does. The nicotine content in the liquid itself should not affect flavor or vapor production; that is why different combinations of PG and VG liquids are available.

The only other ingredients necessary for e-cigarette liquid are flavoring (though technically this is not real necessity, but it does make the experience of vaping much more satisfying) and a small amount of water, to prevent the liquid from being too thick. You should choose liquid that uses food grade or pharmaceutical grade propylene glycol and food grade flavoring.

Choosing Your e-Liquid Flavor

When it comes to flavor, your choices are so vast that you may get confused. Many people want to start with an e-juice flavor that is similar to tobacco. This is a good way to start, and menthol or mint options can satisfy those who are accustomed to menthol cigarettes. Most flavors of e-juice come in all of the nicotine levels, including zero. Pick you nicotine level first, and then pick your flavor.

Flavor is something you obviously can’t “try before you buy,” and of course there is no reason that you actually need to vape any flavor except one. However, if you want to experiment, finding reasonably priced quality e-juice and buying a few flavors at a time can let you try out different flavors to see what you like. Reviews from other e-cigarette users can also help you to discover different flavors and get a feeling for which ones taste like their descriptions indicate and which ones, perhaps, don’t.

It is also possible to mix flavors. You can be creative and find the perfect flavor, or change your flavor often. Once you understand the ingredients and choose the best e-liquid for yourself based on that knowledge, choosing a flavor is based on your personal taste.
