Is Vaping Addictive?
Is Eating Ice-Cream Addictive? Yes!!
Living in today’s world, the word “addiction” comes with primarily negative connotations. When people hear this term, they think of television shows that depict people whose lives are spiraling out of control, and they remember a family member who had to stay in a rehabilitation program for awhile because of a serious addiction. This word is not one that is intended for people to take it likely. However, you should also realize that various levels of addiction exist and, sometimes, people become “addicted” to that which is good for them.
Individuals can grow addicted to a variety of both tangible and intangible items, notions, practices and so forth. Some people will say that they are addicted to their afternoon walk, their morning prayer or their evening yoga routine. They simply mean that the practice makes them feel good. However, others experience severe addictions to drugs and alcohol. These addictions are essentially abuse. That is the major difference between the positive addictions described and these ones. An addiction turns into abuse when it becomes harmful. People with abusing addictions may be harming themselves, breaking apart relationships, driving drunk, causing problems at their jobs and so forth.
The short answer is that yes, vaping can prove addictive, but people want to know into which one of these categories it falls. Vaping is generally used as a replacement for a cigarette; the goal is not really to break an addiction in the first place. People are able to satisfy their craving for nicotine, but they can do so in a different manner (i.e. no tobacco smoke). To an individual they may enjoy vaping over smoking, because vaping provides consumers with various and delicious e-liquids to choose from. If people allow their addiction to place distance between themselves and their loved ones or if they begin spending all of their family’s money on vaping, then the addiction becomes a problem.
However, on the other hand, studies have also shown that vaping is less addictive than cigarette smoking. It’s no coincidence that people are moving in the direction of vaping over tobacco cigarettes.
You may still be left wondering if a vaping addiction is a problem that you have to worry about, but you need to remember that addiction is all about how you approach it. It is not so much vaping or even addiction itself that is the problem. Rather, it is how you approach or handle either of these two things. Consider the way that you are using vaping. If it is causing problems for you, then your addiction has turned sour; if it is not, you may still be addicted, but just not in a negative way.
