Do E-Cigarettes Affect Blood Pressure?
Most people know of the harmful effects of second hand smoke produced by tobacco cigarettes. When electronic cigarettes were introduced years ago there were many skeptics who questioned e-cigs as a "Safer" alternative to conventional cigarettes. Although as e-cig popularity gained a stronghold studies and research of e-cigs increased as well.
A brand new european study at The Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center in Athens found some interesting answers to the question: Do E-Cigarettes Affect Blood Pressure? The research reveals that electronic cigarettes don't acutely affect cardiac function. Which basically means that e-cigs do not affect heart activity and blood pressure nearly in the same fashion that conventional tobacco cigarettes do.
The lead researcher of the study, Dr Farsalinos expressed the studies outcome in this statement:
"Considering the extreme hazards associated with cigarette smoking, currently available data suggest that electronic cigarettes are far less harmful and substituting tobacco with electronic cigarettes may be beneficial to health."
